Whitehall Meeting

Arleigh Managing Director, Alastair Thomas, accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Nuneaton, Marcus Jones MP, travelled to Whitehall and was received by the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke MP.

The meeting was to discuss the impact that the proposed introduction of VAT at 20% on the sale of static caravans from October 1^st 2012 would have on the industry and to add a perspective from a company involved in the supply chain.  Mr Thomas articulated the need for more consideration to be given to this decision given the fragile state of the holiday home manufacturing industry already and the knock-on effect that a reduction in new sales would have on a large number of diverse British companies actively involved in supporting this industry.

There is currently a ‘Stop the Caravan Tax’ parliamentary petition being presented to the House of Commons on 22^nd May 2012 which is being led by Graham Stuart MP and there has already been significant lobbying from the NCC and BHHPA to try to get the Budget proposal scrapped or restructured.

A Big Thank You

Warehouse Expansion

Work is nearing completion on our new mezzanine floor, this new warehouse space adds another 10,000 sq feet to our existing 35,000 sq ft. This extra storage area will provide a new home to Nova leisure, the leading wholesale distributor of Caravan and Motorhome equipment in the UK.
